Unqualified for the Call

Hey lovelies, happy Wednesday! We’ve made it halfway. This will be our first Bible study and I am thrilled to really dig in to the Word today. I recommend getting a journal for our bible studies, to be able to document, reflect, and grow in our walk with Christ. Today, we are going to be reading Exodus 4:12-15, and I am reading from the NIV version.

                                                         Scripture

Exodus 4:11-15 NIV:  [The LORD says to Moses] 12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” 13 But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.” 14 Then the LORD’S anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and he will be glad to see you. 15 You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do.

                                                       Lets Explore

Can I just say I love this verse because it is so relatable to so many of us including myself. Lets be real, the unknown can be nerve wrecking. We start to think: “Lord you want me to leave my comfort zone just so you can experiment with me and test my obedience? Hmmm…I’ll have to get back to you on that one.”  or “Yeah…I don’t want to waste your time, so you might want to pick someone else for the task Chief” or is that just me? Moses felt the same way. It’s funny yet comforting in knowing that the Bible was written thousands of years ago, yet the people in the Bible had similar feelings and actions as us. That’s what’s truly amazing about the Word, the fact that you can find a verse in the Bible and have it resonate with you or what you are going through. Moses was insecure about his speech as he “informed” the Lord: “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue (Exodus 4:10 NIV).” . I think at times we forget who the LORD truly is. He is the great Jehovah Jireh (The Lord will provide)! He will never leave nor forsake us, yet we still question our Father who is a good good Father and become doubtful of His promises. We must not treat our Father as if he is a flawed human who won’t fulfill His promises. He is the Great “I AM”. He will be with us every step of the way when we surrender to Him. He knows us, because He created us in His image. Why question your Creator? The LORD will never play a trick on you nor will He leave you hanging. He tells Moses that He will help him speak and teach him what to say. The Almighty will help us wherever we are lacking, that’s why we have to lean on His understanding rather than our own. God is with us every step of the way, stop doubting yourself and trust that we are equipped in Jesus name.

Reflection

  • Based on today’s study, have you ever had an instance where you felt like Moses? If so, how did you overcome those doubts?
  • When you have your “Moses Moment”, what are some steps you’ll take in making sure you aren’t doubting God (ex: being transparent with God through prayer, trusting your gut instinct, fasting, asking for group prayer, partaking in hobbies, etc.)?

Prayer

Lotd Jesus, we thank you for providing a platform where we can come together in your name and really grow. God I ask you to remove any doubt that we may have in regards to the next step of our lives. God we want to live for you, help us get there. Help us, know we are well-equiped in your name. Lord remind us, that it’s okay to be transparent with you in how we are feeling, because You know us more than we know ourselves. Lord God, you are truly wonderful. Thank you for strength, healing, and growth. Thank you for exemplifying unconditional love to us time and time again even when we feel unequipped in our calling. God, thank you for reminding us that we are indeed equipped for anything, because nothing is impossible for You. We love you Heavenly Father.

In Jesus Name, we pray Amen.

With Love,

Allison
