The [Dreadful] Silent Season

A silent season is when God quiets your surroundings in order to prune you for the next season. It may even feel like God Himself is silent during this time, but trust that He is working on your behalf. During this time, I encourage you to PRAY, PRAY, PRAY! This is the time where you need to work on yourself and allow your Heavenly Father to do His part. The silent season can be intense as it is when you are most vulnerable and have all your flaws are exposed. Do not turn away from this season, rather this is the time where you should get real with yourself and take the opportunity to do some intense surgery on your soul. Read the bible, journal, pray, watch sermons, pick up a hobby etc. Do all you can do to get the most out of your silent season. I won’t lie, it’s not always easy to muster up the energy to do these things especially when things seem to constantly spiral downward and you are practically running on empty. Find the will to do so because it’s easy to throw a pity party for yourself and blame God for your misfortunes, but sister I tell you that is not the way to go. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not to say you should not be transparent with God, but remember to show reverence when speaking to your Heavenly Father.

Let Him know how you feel, how you need reassurance, how you need to be led, how you’re tired, etc. Tell Him everything! For He already knows how you feel, He wants you to open your mouth and tell Him. Reap the benefits of this season, be courageous and fight against the enemy wanting you to give up and lose faith in God. God keeps His promises and He will never leave nor forsake you. He loves you and wants the BEST for you. Anything worth having and keeping is going to take intense preparation. When the season of harvest comes about, you’ll be prepared to have plentiful. James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, lacking anything (NIV).

Not everyone will understand the season God has you in and that is okay it’s not meant for everyone to understand. Some may even try to steer you in another direction that God did not approve of. Though you may vulnerable in this season, it is important not to appoint others in the position God is supposed to be in. God may use others to speak to you, but discern who has a say in your life from those who shouldn’t. Do not deflect this season by finding distractions that are not conducive to your growth, accept it for what it is and do the work! You will be rewarded for your obedience. It’s okay for things to not go as planned, rest your timeline and allow God to put things in motion for you. For God’s timing is truly the best timing. Ask God to help you remain patient during this time and allow him to guide you through this season. The silent season is not easy, so if you are currently going through it this is to reaffirm that God is working on your behalf, that he loves you like no other, and wants the absolute BEST for you. Take advantage of this season, and don’t look to it as something to dread. Make sure you are benefiting from any season God has placed you in, for this is where character and perseverance is built.

With love, Allison
